This cabbage one pot meal is my go to on nights like these. It’s simple and healthy and comes together quickly.
This recipe boasts deliciously seasoned cabbage with added veggies and smoked turkey sausage. It’s quite tasty, inexpensive and reheats really well. It’s a great dish that everyone in the family will enjoy. Set some of the dish aside. It’s great to take for lunch the next day.
Here is my version of this quick and tasty dish. I hope you take it and make it your very own.
INGREDIENTS: 1 Hillshire Farms Smoked Turkey Sausage sliced 1 tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) 1 tbs butter 1 8oz bag of julienne carrots 1 medium sliced sweet onions 1/2 sliced green bell peppers 1/2 sliced red bell peppers 2 cloves garlic 2 tsp thyme 1 large head of cabbage, cored and sliced 4 tbs Chicken Broth Salt and black pepper
DIRECTIONS: 1. In a large skillet, fry turkey sausage over medium heat with EVOO. Once browned, transfer to a dish. Do not discard drippings in pot. 2. Saute carrots, onions, bell peppers until soft. Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute. 3. Add cabbage, thyme, chicken broth to pot and cover. Cook for about 8-10 minutes stirring occasionally. Season with pepper and salt. 4. Stir in sausage and cook an additional 5 minutes.
You can also try variations and add other veggies too. Try adding corn, green beans, broccoli, lima beans or cauliflower.
You can also kick it up a notch by adding some red pepper flakes.
